Allestree Park
Derby’s largest park sits on the edge of city, nestled in a landscape of rolling fields and woods. Already a wonderful haven for wildlife the park is set to become Britain’s largest urban ‘re-wilding’ project in the near future. Under the guidance of the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust new areas of woodland, wetland and meadows will be created along with the likely reintroduction of species like Water Vole, Harvest Mouse and possibly even Red Backed Shrike!
What better way to familiarise yourself with this beautiful and accessible site than by joining your local experienced guide in a 2-3 hour wander around the key areas of the park – soaking up the wealth of bird song as you go! We will be looking and listening out for the resident woodland and parkland species as well as the migrant bird species – such as Warblers and Hirundines – that call this wonderful place home.
